DESCRIPTION

Are you a motivated and detail-oriented professional looking to make a significant impact in the legal sector? We are seeking a part-time Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic Sheffield team, working 16 hours per week with flexible scheduling around your availability. In this role, you will manage a caseload of fast-track Road Traffic Accident (RTA) cases that have exited the MOJ portal. Your primary responsibility will be to gather and complete evidence to determine liability, maximise damages for claimants, and prepare cases for court proceedings. Your commitment to client care and high standards of case handling will be essential to your success.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Word and other office software.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly accurate and attentive to detail in all tasks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in administrative work and data input.
  • Comfortable dealing with clients both face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • Experience in the legal sector or professional services is desirable.
  • A Level qualifications or relevant work experience; a Law degree or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the MOJ Low Value Portal and ex-portal claims process is advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • fast-track RTA cases that have exited the MOJ Portal promptly.
  • Conduct necessary checks for BTE and union membership to finalise funding.
  • Gather essential evidence to determine liability.
  • Instruct appropriate medical experts to obtain necessary evaluations.
  • Identify and investigate all heads of loss for general and special damages.
  • Collect all necessary evidence to support quantum, such as medical records, injury photographs, witness statements, and loss of earnings details.
  • Prepare claims for valuation once all medical and special evidence is complete.
  • Retain cases in the ‘evidence’ stage for further investigations as needed and follow up after client instructions.
  • Ensure all work complies with the unit’s processes, standards, and authority levels.
