Description:

Applications are invited for the position of Part-Time Professor, Law in the Law Clerk Program within the School of Business & Management Studies. This position will commence January 2025 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, successful candidates will provide an inspirational and effective learning environment for students, creating opportunities to share their professional experience while imparting skills and knowledge, facilitating effective classroom discussion, and administering assessments.
Specific winter 2025 term teaching opportunities for this role may include, but are not limited to:
1. INTL1483 – Corporate Law
This course will introduce you to the methods of carrying on a business, focusing on the mechanics of incorporating companies and the filing of information returns. You will review resolutions, by-laws and the maintenance of minute books. You will also study the purchase and sale of businesses and other corporate changes.
2. LAWS1485 – Legislate Tribunals Students will be introduced to the basic theory, structure and function of Administrative Law and administrative decision making. Students will then examine specific agencies, boards and commissions involved in the implementation of the relevant legislation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Law Clerk, Paralegal, or related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience as a law clerk, paralegal professional, or equivalent role
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Indication of contribution within a team environment and positive work culture
  • Evidence of commitment to guiding and supporting students toward success
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
