Georgian College is seeking non-full-time Professors for the Power Engineering Technology program. As faculty members at Georgian College, you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for teaching and share your rich industry experience by creating a supportive and effective learning environment which allows students to achieve their full academic potential. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Delivering a wide variety of courses in our Power Engineering Technology program
- Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluating student learning progress / academic achievement
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successfully completed a postsecondary diploma / degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to power engineering
- At least 3 years related industry experience and training
- Certification by Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) for Power Engineering 4th, 3rd, or 2nd class Operating Engineer (a copy of valid certificate must accompany the application)
- Previous teaching experience at a postsecondary level and / or adult training experience is an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment and to foster the same in their students
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite and software related to the power engineering field
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
