Program Description:
Catholic Charities operates 12 community residences on LI where residents with developmental disabilities are helped to achieve their highest level of functioning and to participate fully in the surrounding community.
Position Description: We are seeking a Residential RN to assume RN oversight of medical/medication- related issues for every resident in the residence in conjunction with the DSPs, Medical Care Counselor and Manager. In this role, the Residential RN will ensure compliance within the program of all medical/medication-related OPWDD regulations and related Agency policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing oversight to confirm that the highest quality of care is provided in all medical situations.
  • Supervise medical and AMAP staff ensuring compliance with required documentation and training.
  • Initiate positive interventions and resolutions of all medical care/medication/AMAP related issues.
  • Report discrepancies and/or problems related to medical care/follow up and AMAP administration to Healthcare Administrator.
  • Participate as active member of Treatment Team advising Team of any significant changes.
  • Assume On-Call Beeper responsibilities in accordance with published schedule.
  • Provide workshops/training on health-related issues for staff, clients and families.
  • Attend medical appointments and ensure that hospitalized residents receive RN follow up.
  • Discuss professional issues via telephone or in person with residents, families, Agency personnel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and NYS certification
  • 5 years practical nursing experience
  • Previous experience working with developmentally disabled populations required
  • Valid current NYS driver’s license
  • Able to work flexible hours

Schedule: Must be flexible to accommodate alternating days and hours
