JOB DESCRIPTION:

City University of Seattle in Canada is looking for qualified part-time Associate Faculties for the School of Health and Social Sciences in the Master of Counselling Program, Victoria Campus. Ideal candidates are qualified counselling professionals with knowledge and experience in post-secondary education. A master’s degree in counselling/psychology/clinical social work is required as well as registration with a regulatory body. Doctoral degree preferred. Prior teaching experience is an asset.

SUMMARY:

There are a variety of clinical and non-clinical focused courses that are available. Examples of clinical courses may include Couples Counselling, Group Counselling, Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology, and Clinical Supervision courses. Examples of non-clinical courses may include Research Methods and Statistics, Testing and Assessment, and Counselling Research Capstone courses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.   • A registered psychologist, registered clinical counsellor or mental health professional with a doctoral degree (preferred) or Masters in psychology, counselling and/or clinical social work.
  • A minimum of 5 years post-registration clinical experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience in field of practice.
  • Registration with a regulatory body consistent with the field of practice.
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset.
  • Skills in addressing student academic-related issues and concerns in support of retention and student success.
  • Culturally competent to serve a diverse student and faculty body.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented system, and deal effectively with professional staff and faculty, and culturally diverse students.
  • Ability to present a professional image on behalf of the school and City University of Seattle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.
