Part Time Technician (Photography)

DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking 2 Photographic Technicians on a job share basis to provide technical support to teaching and demonstration activities, and to events and productions as required, within the universities Photographic studios, darkrooms, and postproduction facilities.
The role will be based in the Locksbrook Rd Campus whilst supporting the broader and deeper utilisation of facilities and cross disciplinary working.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Within this role you will support Academic and Technical Demonstrator colleagues who work with students and staff in the Photographic facilities at the university’s Locksbrook Rd Campus. You will be responsible for preparing the photographic facilities, equipment and spaces so they are ready for teaching. You will also be responsible tidying up after sessions and regular maintenance of facilities and equipment. Loaning of equipment through the university’s asset store system will also fall into the responsibilities of this role. You will be able to monitor stock levels and work with senior colleagues to place orders for consumables as well as report any lost, damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management.
Health and Safety is an important part of any role but especially when specialist equipment and facilities are concerned, you will have experience with health and safety management specific to photographic processes. This would include processing film, darkroom preparation and management as well as printing photographs in colour and black and white.
