Description:
1. JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Interpersonal Skills: This position requires interactions with a variety of people in the organization (including peers, regions, members of other departments or companies, suppliers, dealers, NNA, NML). Communication include updates on back orders, working with I.S. to develop or improve inventory management systems, responding to inquiries about potentially contentious issues, conflict resolution between Head Office and Regional staff. Presentations at meetings and influencing for change with new processes).
Complexity and Problem Solving: Problems are most often very unique, broad and conceptual in nature and require significant judgment and ingenuity to develop solutions. Problems encountered in this position require considerable analysis and research to find resolutions and contingency plans that have the best impact for the least cost. For example, when fill rates are down research is required to identify the reason and determine the area that will have a significant impact for the least cost; reducing inventory and inquiring about new model parts orders that do not match.
Sensory and Physical Demands: This position requires a moderate amount of sensory effort including listening to callers, instructions, viewing and analyzing data to refine procedures/ processes and prepare reports. Limited physical effort in the form of keyboarding and prolonged levels of sitting.
Decision-making/Impact of the Position: Sound decision making skills in the areas of system modifications, process development, departmental work flow/work load and individual purchases. Ability to advise on charges to NCI’s inventory management systems and needs for additional staff. Errors may result in consequences that are felt both inside and outside of the organization (i.e. insufficient inventory directly impacts F1 and customers perception of NCI) and could have impacts including peers ability to do their jobs (i.e. if inadequate information relative to parts is not provided they cannot proceed with their programs), financial loss/waste (i.e. excess purchases or systems not designed properly), employee morale within the department and company image.
People Management: Although this position has no formal management responsibilities the incumbent is required to provide ongoing guidance/delegating to the NML/AHQ Parts Co-ordinators, Assistant Procurement Co-ordinator on Parts ordering, expediting and Parts System Maintenance and providing N-POPS to Parts Distribution Centre Parts Co-ordinators and Assistant Procurement Co-ordinator.
2. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years related experience in procurement/inventory control management.
3. EDUCATION
This position requires a college or university degree in business administration.
Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY - HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION WITHIN ORGANIZATION, WHAT FUNCTIONS IS IT RESPONSIBLE FOR, AND WHAT OUTCOMES IT SHOULD PRODUCE.
Responsible for analyzing inventory levels and supplier performance to ensure that all NCI parts in 3 distribution centres meet the service level, months of supply, and sales objectives to support approximately 600,000 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the market. Provides direction to the Assistant Parts Coordinator.
B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - MAIN SATISFIERS/DUTIES THE POSITION MUST PRODUCE AND DELIVER TO ITS INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CLIENTS. ALWAYS START WITH THE VERB.
Analyzes recommended orders for inventory from NML/AHQ, Campaigns and New Model Parts to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained to meet service level targets. Places daily and weekly orders to maintain and balance inventory, requests transfer of inventory between Parts Distribution Centres to reduce backorders and evaluates proper inventory levels to keep Air orders to a minimum. 30%
Designs and develops new processes and procedures to achieve greater departmental efficiency and increase service levels in a complex, changing environment. 10% Analyze purchases of replenishment inventory including approximately $52 million annually and average on hand inventory level of $26 million. Implements the annual scrap plan for obsolete parts. 20%
Identifies opportunities for process improvement, co-ordinates with NCI’s information systems staff, as well as, NML, NNA and other suppliers, to design and implement system enhancements. The incumbent has an ongoing liaison with Information Systems staff. 5%
Designs, develops and performs complex studies using sophisticated database techniques to forecast future demand requirements. 10%
Prepares a monthly operational summary report. (The report tracks NCI, NNA, NML and local supplier’s performance levels including fill rates, air order ratio, inventory levels, average days backorders outstanding and more performance details). 5%
Advises and provides guidance to Assistant Parts Co-ordinator (i.e. an edited list of daily emergency and monthly orders, part numbers to be superseded, added on file or setup service file, order cancellation and change vendor supply codes). 5% Performs other Department duties as assigned on a timely basis. 5%
