HEADTEACHER - PAUL GRILLS

Teddington School is seeking an exceptional pastoral mentor to join our highly successful team. This is an exciting opportunity to offer support and guidance to a wide variety of students.
About Teddington School:
We are a large, inclusive 11-18 secondary school based in the leafy borough of Richmond Upon Thames, on the outskirts of London. In recent years, we have become the school of choice for our local community, known for providing a highly professional, friendly environment where students and staff can thrive.
Our ‘Teddington Pillars’ underpin our commitment to an excellent, well-rounded education for all students. We firmly believe that every child is entitled to an education that combines academic rigour, breadth of curriculum, and abundant opportunities - enabling them to leave us as healthy, globally-aware learners, fully prepared for their future.
While we are proud of our outstanding exam results, we know these alone do not make for a well-rounded person. At Teddington, we are dedicated to developing the whole child, with a wide range of enrichment activities beyond the academic curriculum.
Role Purpose:
Responsible for the delivery of highly effective, targeted provision and care to pupils, under the guidance of the Pastoral Lead, Teachers and Senior Leaders, in order to positively impact wellbeing and mental health amongst pupils. Raising standards of achievement for pupils to become independent learners. Ensuring effective support of pupil welfare and the inclusion of all pupils in all aspects of school life in line with school and Trust policies, promoting the ethos and the values of the school and Bourne Education Trust.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Champion efforts to promote and support mental health and wellbeing, operationally delivering a practical whole school approach
  • Ensure everyone works as a team around the pupils, with a consistent approach, shared aims and strategies, sharing necessary and required information to secure the effective support of pupils with mental health needs
  • Deliver relevant staff training and awareness under guidance, ensuring staff are equipped with the skills to support and manage pupils with mental health needs
  • Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the wellbeing of pupils within the whole school
  • Work with external agencies to secure further support and intervention when needed
  • Support in the development and implementation of a range of interventions to support pupils needs
