Description:
WE ARE DELIGHTED TO BE WORKING WITH AN ESTABLISHED, QUALITY-LED CONTRACT CATERING COMPANY TO RECRUIT FOR AN EXPERIENCED PASTRY CHEF WITHIN AN EDUCATIONAL SETTING IN HARROGATE.
We’re looking for a positive, dependable, and skilled Pastry Chef to join our client’s friendly and hardworking team. The ideal candidate will enjoy full autonomy and responsibility for creating and delivering pastry offerings, which includes breads, desserts, and specialty items for various dining stations. You’ll also have the opportunity to train and mentor team members to support the section and assist when needed. A solid understanding of allergies and dietary needs is essential, as this will guide your menu planning and preparation.
Full-time, 40 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 on a rotating shift (typically 6:00 am - 2:00 pm, with some shifts from 11:30 am - 7:30 pm). Year-round employment due to our all-year-open school client.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in pastry, with the ability to run the pastry section independently.
- Innovation and adaptability to align offerings with current culinary trends.
- Ability to collaborate and provide occasional support to the Chef Manager and other chefs, as well as supervise a Chef de Partie.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising a Chef de Partie.
- Preparing homemade cakes daily for up to 600 people.
- Meeting daily bread and pastry requirements for lunch and evening service.
- Managing the pastry section, including ordering, stock-taking, and adhering to health and hygiene standards.
- Following COSHH & HACCP guidelines.
- Creating traditional cakes, bakes, and tarts for general dining and special events.
- Assisting chefs with service during peak hours as needed.
