Description:

We are in search of a skilled Patent Agent to become a part of our team. The role will be based in our San Francisco office, and will involve working with a range of patent prosecution activities within the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Responsibilities

  • Handle patent prosecution tasks with a focus on maintaining accurate records and processing applications
  • Utilize technical knowledge in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and pharmacy to enhance job functions
  • Conduct detailed prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
  • Analyze patents and scientific papers to support patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling
  • Ensure excellent written and verbal communication in English during all interactions
  • Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary
  • Maintain a broad technical knowledge to aid in job functions
  • Maintain a focus on customer inquiries, resolving them efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure all customer credit applications are processed accurately and efficiently
  • Uphold a high standard of service, maintaining accurate customer credit records.
  • The candidate must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent.
  • Proficiency in patent prosecution is mandatory.
  • The candidate must have a license to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is needed.
  • The candidate should have the ability to conduct thorough and accurate research.
  • Proficiency in using patent databases and other related software is expected.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of patent law and procedures is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are needed.
  • The candidate must exhibit high ethical standards and professionalism.
