Description:

North West London Pathology is looking to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic Pathology Quality Officer to join our multidisciplinary Quality and Governance team.
The post holder will be an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with specialist knowledge within their discipline. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with all Pathology laboratory disciplines on all sites, including Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, West Middlesex University Hospital and The Hillingdon Hospital, whilst learning more about Quality & Governance processes.
The successful applicant will be a strong team-player and will support the laboratory teams to ensure a quality service is provided, and maintain an efficient, effective and harmonised quality management system across all sites and departments. The successful applicant will work with the rest of the Quality team to ensure services meet the requirements of ISO15189:2022.
A positive attitude to working in a flexible manner and a commitment to supporting the clinical services of our customer Trusts and meeting the needs of our patients is also required.
You will work with Divisional Quality & governance managers and Laboratory Managers to embed a culture of quality and ensure that all elements of the quality policy and quality manual are implemented within each laboratory.
You will carry out and support laboratory staff to carry out risk assessments, identify appropriate follow up and action plans, undertake investigation of incidents and non-conformities, contributing towards Patient Safety incident investigation, using SEIPs, and other Patient Safety Incident responses. Perform audit and local quality checks. Work with other quality officers to implement quality improvements/preventive actions across pathology.
Maintain compliance with ISO15189: 2022 and Trust standards, providing advice on appropriate remedial/immediate and corrective action plans to laboratory staff. Have an understanding of External Quality Assurance schemes and interpretation and support appropriate follow up of EQA exceptions.
Support laboratory teams to progress quality plans and objectives that ensure examples of best practice are identified and implemented in all appropriate areas of the laboratories. Follow up with lab personnel when activities are due to ensure agreed quality performance indicator targets are met. Maintain, update and develop personal and professional knowledge and skills. Participate in quality management training.

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
