Description:
University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Patient Access Coordinator to support the Vision Institute located at 1622 Locust Street Pittsburgh, PA 15219. This role will primarily work Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (or 7:30am to 4pm) and weekends during Mission of Mercy Event or any other community outreach event. Travel to satellite office depending on patient’s needs may be required
Responsibilities:
- Present self in a positive manner reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
- Monitor quality in all pre-registration/scheduling functions. Role model flexibility and excellent customer services.
- Provide input on assessing / monitoring / evaluating staff development and educational needs.
- Maintain flexible schedule to meet needs of department.
- Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others.
- Perform accurate patient pre-registration.
- Remain flexible to ensure processes and services to meet and exceed their customer’s expectations.
- Participate in the collection and communication of data pertaining to the needs of the patient and the department.
- Relay/confirm pre-testing instructions with patients.
- Maintain professional, pleasant and effective communications both internally and externally.
- Schedule appointments for services based on department and patient needs. (more staff level)
- Promote the Practice’s image and maintain a positive and helpful attitude toward employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the Practice’s reputation as a health care center.
- Function as a resource in the integration process with UPMC and all ongoing computer system issues
- Preceptor for all new employees.
- Demonstrate cost consciousness through efficient use of time, materials, staff, equipment, supplies, and available resources.
- Maintain confidentiality of Practice’s information with no infractions.
- Establish and maintain a good rapport and cooperative relationship with the medical staff, co-workers, supervisors, and all other customers.
- Collaborate with the Manager with screen development, documents, and reports, including data.
- Contribute to the efficient operation and supervision of the department.
- Completion of High school or GED required.
- Prefer Associate degree.
- 2 years of minimum computer, analytical, and pre-registration/admission skills.
- Require Medical terminology and third party health care coverage experience.
- Prefer training experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
- Work productively with minimum supervision.
- Able to work well under pressureLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 34
