UPMC Somerset is seeking a full-time Patient and Family Concierge to support their Acute Care Units!
The schedule for this position will work variable shifts and will require rotating weekend and holiday shifts. This is a great, entry-level position for anyone looking to start their healthcare career! Candidates with all experience levels will be considered.
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE:
The Patient & Family Concierge is responsible for providing generalized, compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their stay within the hospital. The core goal of the Concierge is to create and deliver a top-notch experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues. The Concierge will serve in a variety of capacities across the hospital based on ever-changing needs. In the course of the day, the Concierge may assist with patient and visitor destination coordination, environmental services, dietary, patient transport throughout the hospital, and supply/equipment management. Above all, the Concierge will remain focused on patient and guest satisfaction and quality of care from first to last impression.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Destination Coordination: Greet patients and families warmly, providing directions and escort assistance. Share patient information appropriately while respecting confidentiality.
- Environmental Services: Clean and organize assigned areas, including patient rooms and public spaces. Replenish supplies and report maintenance issues.
- Dietary Services: Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders. Maintain food safety and quality, and follow sanitation regulations.
- Transportation Services: Safely transport patients, equipment, and lab specimens. Inspect and disinfect transportation equipment, and record data electronically.
- Supply & Equipment Management: Order and organize unit-specific supplies and equipment. Deliver supplies and maintain inventory, checking expiration dates.
- General: Answer unit phones and respond to call lights. Interact with patients, assess needs, and ensure all areas are satisfactorily maintained.
- Parking Assistance: Issue parking discounts and free passes. Assist with parking cashier functions and validate patient parking.
- Patient Mobility: Prompt patient mobility as appropriate, involving clinical staff when needed. Track patient belongings upon admission.
- Bed Management: Make beds and change linens in patient discharge rooms. Ensure all areas are properly cleaned and in good repair.
- Meal Delivery: Deliver and set up patient meal trays, ensuring proper identification. Provide additional nourishments upon request.
- Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times.
- High School diploma OR active High School/GED program enrollment OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
- Previous experience in health care or customer service is a plus but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
