Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Patient Flow Manager to join our team based in Peterborough.
The Patient Flow Manager is based within the hospital and is key to help bridge the gap between hospitals and our operations team on a daily basis. You will be the key senior point of contact for escalation for your designated trust, should they fall into a bed crisis.
In this role you will manage a team of ‘Patient Transport Liaison Officers’ (PTLO) and be responsible for the successful delivery of services and monitor & support patient flow to ensure all patients receive their treatment in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
- Attend and support trust management at bed meetings or ensure PTLO cover is available to attend.
- Build strong communication links with emergency departments, wards & units to agree Process & Procedures supporting Bariatric transport, End of Life, & Mental Health patients, Risk Assessment (RA) processes & escalations.
- Meet weekly with planning/control to forecast for following weeks activity identifying peaks and troughs in demand and ensuring operational responsiveness.
- Assist crews with complex manual handling tasks as and when required.
- Use Bed Status data & delegated authority to maximise service capacity.
- Lead formal meetings with HCP leads, focus on KPI performance, potential pressure points, & how the service further support patient flow.
- Familiarisation with EMED policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
To be considered as a Patient Flow Manager, you will need:
- Experience of working in a healthcare / hospital setting.
- Prior experience of leading a team
- Thorough working knowledge of Non-Emergency Patient Transport services.
- The ability to plan and prioritise own workload.
- Excellent communication skills – (verbal and written)
- Competent to make decisions based on impact assessment - with the ability to explain decisions made.
- The ability to build effective relationships using influencing skills with key stakeholders to prioritise EMED services and support divisional growth.
