Description:

The Neurosciences Department is looking for a Patient Pathway Administrator to support the Neurosciences team. The role includes but is not limited to booking of appointments, resolving queries, directing and processing referrals, outcoming, post and other basic administration duties. Due to the nature of this role the right candidate will need experience in a similar role, knowledge of Microsoft Office and hospital systems. This role is based at Queen’s Hospital and requires a well organised and dynamic individual who is able to keep pace with a rapidly changing and growing service. Patients and their relatives contact the service daily and therefore, a helpful, empathetic and can do attitude is a must.
The Patient Pathway Navigator will work across all respiratory sub specialities but primarily will work closely with the Lung cancer team and will support with data management for the Lung Cancer team for audits. The successful candidate will facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that there are co-ordinated and streamlined administrative processes that revolve around the patient and their individual needs. This will include registration of patients and referrals, booking of appointments, prepping clinics, booking procedure and beds for patient admissions.
The Patient Pathway Navigator will also type clinic letters and be dealing with queries from patients and colleagues. The successful candidate will also have responsibility for tracking of patients notes and requesting clinical tests.
The Patient Pathway Navigator is a supportive role primarily to the Lung Cancer team and will provide an administrative role to the current Cancer Nurse Specialist (CNS) team and patients within the Lung Cancer pathway.
The post holder will be required to provide an administrative support role with regular contact with patients, external health partners and the BHRUT Lung Cancer team. The role will support the CNS and Respiratory Clinicians with coordinating care for Lung Cancer Patients in accordance with the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway and national waiting times.

We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
