Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for two highly enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join the Kent and Medway ICB as Patient Safety Partners. These new roles were created to help improve patient safety within Kent and Medway.
Patient Safety Partners (PSPs) are actively involved in designing safer healthcare at all levels in the organisation. This includes roles in safety governance, such as sitting on relevant committees to support compliance monitoring and addressing safety issues, and providing appropriate challenge to ensure learning and change. Additionally, PSPs play a key role in the development and implementation of relevant strategy and policy.
Patient Safety Partners will ensure that any committee or group of which they are a member considers and prioritizes the perspectives of service users, patients, carers, and families, and champions a diversity of views. It is essential for the PSPs to comply with relevant policies and maintain strict confidentiality in respect to discussions and information when required.
A Patient Safety Partner (PSP) is a non-ICB employee who supports the organisation in improving patient safety. They bring an independent perspective and are involved, as an equal partner, in a wide range of activities and programmes.
- Attendance at relevant Quality and Safety committees and forums to contribute to and support compliance with monitoring and improvement.
- Acting as an adviser to the Patient Safety and Learning team in the development and delivery of the Patient Safety Strategy.
- Putting forward views on behalf of the wider Community/Groups of Patients/Service Users (not own opinion only) through the Patient Safety and Learning team.
- Evaluating a range of information and evidence and communicating with senior leaders about strategic issues, as an advocate for patient safety.
- Championing Quality and Safety improvements to support the ICB`s in implementation of the relevant strategy and policy.
Due to the ICB`s commitment to safety and continuous improvement, it is likely that the role will evolve over time. These duties will be subject to review; any amendments will be made in consultation and agreement with the PSP.
