GenesisCare is now looking for a professional and empathetic Patient Services Officer (Medical Receptionist) to join the growing team in our Maitland Oncology Clinic, NSW.
Our centre delivers high quality cancer services including radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Successful applicants must be prepared to work in a fast-paced and multi-skilled area of healthcare, have a strong focus on patient needs and be able to develop strong working relationships with doctors and allied health professionals.
On offer is a full time, 7-month contract with the potential for permanent part-time work available after this time in early 2025.

More specifically, you will:

  • Work in a fast-paced administrative role where customer focus is the top priority.
  • Act as the first point of contact to patients and provide excellent customer service both face to face and over the phone.
  • Adapt to and manage an environment where there is ongoing change and competing priorities.
  • Book and confirm patients for appointments and consultations.
  • Maintain the diary and ensure that all relevant documentation and administrative processes are completed for appointments.
  • Billing and receipting at time of appointment.
  • Supportively guide patients through Medicare and billing processes.
  • Accurately process relevant paperwork including data entry.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
  • Continuously liaise with the local team and other practices to ensure efficient processes.
  • Manage patient records and filing of patient notes.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient care and customer service.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience to work successfully both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of patient billing systems and related Medicare funding mechanisms would be highly valued.
  • Exceptional phone manner and ability to handle a high volume of patient inquiries.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Flexible approach to work and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
