Description:
Position Purpose: The Patient Travel Clerk shall respond and follow through on requests from community members to access medical transportation benefits and process them in accordance with Non-Insured Health Benefits guidelines as administered by the First Nations Health Authority.

Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
- High school diploma
- Effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
- Clear written and verbal communications.
- Good time management skills and attention to detail.
- Must be capable of working under pressure with tact and diplomacy
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- High degree of professionalism, honesty and confidentiality
- Acceptable Criminal Record check as condition of employment
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licenc
Responsibilities:
- Screen and assess clients seeking assistance to determine eligibility.
- Arrange travel and accommodations for eligible clients.
- Manage client files, records and appointment schedules.
- Ensure all documentation is up to date.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
- Ensure all required approvals have been documented.
- Provide information to community members regarding program policies.
- Provide an annual written report to the membership.
- Assist off-reserve clients to access services when required.
- Prepare reporting to the First Nations Health Authority.
- Client advocacy and support for clients when out of office with little to no means of communications.
- Deposit travel cheques for clients out of town.
- Seek and inform clients.
- Assist with compassionate travel.
- Other duties as instructed by the Health Manager
Covid Protocol & Guidelines:
- Complete Covid Pre-screen on all participants prior to meeting with them.
- Wear appropriate PPE – mask, eye-shield.
- Appropriate use of hand sanitizer and handwashing.
- Always practice physical distancing.
- During Pandemic services may be provide virtually and by telephone to limit contact.
- Preparing and serving of food may not be implemented unless it can be provided safely following Covid guidelines.
- Follow Covid protocol when offering health centre visits and group sessions.
