Job Description
As a Payroll Accountant, you will be trusted with the execution of the in-house, multi-state manual payroll for over 100 employees, including both hourly-wage and salaried personnel. Payroll runs on a bi-monthly and bi-weekly schedule. You will be responsible for handling payroll tax returns, State Unemployment Tax Act (SUTA), and Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA).
This role offers a contract to permanent opportunity, allowing you to demonstrate your skills and adaptability. With flexible hours and the possibility of working remotely for three days a week, they provide an accommodating work environment.
Responsibilities
Perform payroll duties, managing timely and accurate processing of the company’s payroll. Multi-state payroll. Prepare and upload payroll tax returns. Handle multi-state SUTA and FUTA. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Work closely with the HR department to implement payroll procedures. Troubleshoot any payroll discrepancies. Review and improve payroll policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is a plus; experience required Previous experience in Payroll, Accounting, or related field. Strong understanding and experience with payroll tax laws, FUTA, and SUTA. Proficient with payroll software. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills. Equal Opportunity
