The Province of British Columbia has chosen South Fraser Station Partners to work on the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project. The SFSP scope of work includes the construction of eight stations, a 250m Guideway, three standalone Power Propulsion Substations, and three bus exchanges. The Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project will improve regional connections and provide fast, frequent, and reliable transit service for people and businesses across Metro Vancouver, especially south of the Fraser River. The general partnership is made up of Aecon, Pomerleau and Acciona.
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for providing the accurate, and timely entry of unionized craft employee timesheets along with day-to-day payroll administration. The incumbent will work closely with the project operations, finance and human resources teams.
This is an on-site position located in Surrey (King George), BC.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2- 3 years’ experience with payroll administration, handling a large payroll headcount or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with unions and reading and interpreting collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and relevant legislation.
  • Related post-secondary education and professional payroll work experience within a construction environment.
  • Demonstrated computer software proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system and Field Data Capture is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a high-pressure work environment.

    The expected pay range for this salary is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding and familiarity with the various sector union agreements which includes wage classifications, union benefits and scenarios for worker entitlement to allowances.
  • Utilizing and acting as an administrator to the electronic timecard software system (Field Data Capture)
  • Provide training to new foremen, superintendents, and project engineers on FDC including occasional troubleshooting where necessary.
  • Coordinate timecard approvals/corrections with the superintendents and foremen.
  • Accurate and timely submissions of daily timecards to HCM Payroll (Aecon Payroll Team)
  • Receive and validate the daily payable time report.
  • Crosscheck hours, premiums and allowances against the union agreement.
  • Assist with validation of weekly/biweekly payroll payments.
  • Send out electronic paystubs after they are generated.
  • Provision of accurate details for quarterly WorkSafeBC submittals.
  • Maintain tracking spreadsheets for cost reconciliation
  • Work alongside project controls team to generate labour / productivity reports.
  • Coordinate new employee request forms and termination forms with HR team and Corporate Payroll Team.
  • Act as an advisor to the project team on the collective agreement as it relates to payroll practices and optimization of shift schedules.
  • Resolve payroll and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources / Labour Relations and Finance teams.
  • Build collaborative working relationships will all levels of the project.
