Skills we are looking for include excellent organizational ability, familiarity with payroll and HR software and strong communication with confidentiality. Responsibilities would include:

  • Calculating bi-weekly payable hours, benefits, garnishments, tax withholdings and other deductions
  • Use multiple software programs to assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, bonus, leaves, etc.)
  • Update and maintain employee records
  • Filing monthly and quarterly taxes
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of HR functions
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, performance evaluations, etc.)
  • Submit online job postings, shortlist candidates, schedule interviews (including travel arrangements) and coordinate communication with potential candidates
  • Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews

Skills to be successful include:

  • Degree in business administration or human resources
  • Proven experience with payroll
  • Exposure to labor law and employment equity regulations
  • Work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in email, Microsoft office, excel and payroll software programs
  • Organized, excellent time management skills
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions
  • Confidentiality
  • Construction background helpful
  • Rate of pay based on experience
