Description:
Position Summary: The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for managing the accurate and timely processing of payroll, administering employee benefits programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role will work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to support the resort’s payroll and benefits needs while providing excellent service to our staff.
Note that this position is a permanent, in-house position.
Hourly rate for this position is $28-$30/hr, dependant on experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Education:
- Payroll and/or HR Certifications
- Finance, Accounting, or a related studies completed.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably in a hospitality or resort setting.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is preferred
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, benefits administration, and relevant employment laws.
- Proficiency in utilizing Ceridian payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll Administration:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for 200+ employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and applicable laws.
- Maintain and update employee records, including changes in employment status, salary adjustments, and deductions.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to finance and government agencies as required.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
- Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, paid time off, and other perks.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims processing.
- Liaise with benefits providers to resolve issues and manage plan renewals.
- Conduct periodic benefits audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay updated on federal, provincial and local employment laws and regulations related to payroll and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and labor laws.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports and filings.
- Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll and benefits records.
- Ensure proper documentation of employee information and payroll transactions.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Employee Support:
- Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll and benefits questions and issues.
- Conduct informational sessions and distribute materials related to payroll and benefits programs.
- Collaborate with HR to support employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements related to payroll and benefits administration.
- Implement and enhance procedures to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
- Co-operate and accept other duties as and when required.
