Description:

NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ plus experience in Canadian payroll, specifically Ontario and benefits administration
  • Experience in a large manufacturing environment (1000+ employees) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is essential.
  • Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local labor laws and regulations, with specific payroll compliance in Ontario.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong background in Excel and Microsoft office

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified Payroll Compliance Professional or working towards it through the National Payroll Institute Association (NPI)

Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration:

  • Assist in the process and management of accurate hourly and salary bi-weekly payroll for all employees using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Assists in maintenance of payroll records, including timekeeping, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Assists in resolve payroll discrepancies and answer payroll-related inquiries from employees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Assist in year-end payroll activities and other payroll related functions, including ROE filings and various auditing duties.

Benefits Administration:

  • Assist in the maintenance and administration of various employee benefits programs, including health, dental, life insurance, and retirement plans, including enrollments, terminations and changes.
  • Assist employees with benefits-related questions and issues.
  • Monitor and track employee leave balances and entitlements.

HR Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all labor and employment laws, particularly within Ontario
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of reports related to payroll, benefits, and other HR metrics.
  • HR Support:
  • Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of employees, including conducting new hire orientations.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Support the HR team with various HR projects and initiatives as needed
