The Opportunity
We are expanding our team at Deveraux by adding an additional Payroll and Benefits Administrator. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role will oversee the entire payroll process for the organization. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal and provincial legislation, handling employee inquiries, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you bring…

  • 2-5+ years of experience in full-cycle payroll delivery within a large, complex organization
  • Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification is an asset
  • Proven self-motivation, analytical and problem-solving skills, and initiative to achieve desired outcomes and meet deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A problem-solving attitude and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing work environment

You will…

  • Accurately process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Handle payroll expenses, deductions, garnishments, and adjustments, and perform entries in QB and Avanti
  • Process monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, including T4s, vacation accruals, adjustments, payroll billing, etc.
  • Prepare and process payroll journal entries, request payments for source deductions, and perform reconciliations
  • Handle special payment processing and off-cycle payroll runs as needed
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Generalist and Administrator on processing new hires, rehires, transfers, terminations, employee benefits, etc.
  • Export, validate, balance, and import hours from timekeeping systems into the payroll system
  • Maintain Group Benefits, RRSP/DPSP, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, system standards, policies, financial controls, and audit requirements
  • Participate in projects and other ad hoc duties as required
