REQUIREMENTS FOR PAYROLL GENERALIST

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing
  • Certified payroll and union payroll experience (strongly desired, not required)
  • Experience with union environments (desired, not required)
  • Experience in the construction, industrial, and manufacturing industries (desired, not required)

Responsibilities:

HERE ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE

  • Data entry and maintenance of payroll and human resource records
  • Verify and implement payroll deductions, elections, and garnishments
  • Complete and file payroll-related hours and earnings audits
  • Document and maintain policy and procedure updates
  • Offer “best practice” recommendations and insights
  • Ensure timely certification of payroll reports
  • Produce periodic workers’ compensation and union reports
  • Produce quarterly and annual payroll tax reports
  • Support the Human Resource team, including new hire onboarding and maintenance of vacation/PTO hours
  • Perform additional tasks or projects related to payroll operations, as needed

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES YOU WILL NEED TO FULFILL THIS ROLE

  • General computer skills, including strong typing skills and numeric data entry
  • Comfortable using a variety of digital platforms, such as Microsoft desktop applications, ADP, Sage, Procore, Zenefits, or similar. (Strongly desired but not required)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivation to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment

As the Payroll Generalist, you will work with the team at our headquarters in San Leandro, Calif.
This role operates in a professional office environment. The Payroll Data Entry Clerk routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
No travel is expected in this role.
