Mainland is hiring! We are looking for an experienced Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our team.
Overview
Located in Surrey, BC, The Mainland Group of Companies is currently looking for a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator. Reporting to the Controller, this person is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the company payroll activities. The role includes filing tax and voluntary deduction reports, union remittances, year-end, updating and recording company payroll procedures, and completing additional accounting tasks as assigned.
Location
This position is a full time role in office 5 days per week, 40 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll for semi-monthly salaried and bi-weekly hourly union payroll for all companies.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with legislative government, regulatory bodies and collective agreements.
  • Entry of hourly time to record time worked and coding for each employee, and entry of equipment hours. Work closely with operations teams to gather information, review data, and ensure accuracy and completeness of data for job costing purposes.
  • Maintain accurate employee files in the payroll system (PrimoPay), ensuring records are updated and following up when needed.
  • Process final pay and issue ROE for terminations, including capture of all hours worked, vacation accruals, deductions and contributions, and issuance of pay through payroll.
  • Administer and maintain salaried group benefits and RRSP with third-party providers for new hires, changes, and terminations.
  • Process Receiver General, WCB, EHT, Union remittances, Payroll, RRSP remittances and reporting.
  • Prepare year-end T4s, T4As, T5s, and T2200.
  • Support employees and management in day-to-day payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • Promote continuous improvement in payroll processes.
  • Onboard and manage new employee documentation on BambooHR and Dynamics 365 - Business Central.
  • Manage employee vehicle benefits.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience & Skill Set

  • 3+ years full cycle salary and union payroll experience, including remittances and year-end processes
  • Post-secondary education in related field
  • Certification as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
  • Experience with concurrently running salary and hourly payroll
  • Experience with union payroll is an asset
  • Ability ensure confidentiality is maintained
  • Accounting knowledge to do accurate journal entries and payroll reconciliations
  • Strong computer skills, specifically using Excel
  • Prior experience with PrimoPay and Dynamics 365 - Business Central is an asset
  • Organizational skills – ability to manage time and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Salary and Benefits

  • This role has a range of $60,000 to $90,000 per annum based on candidate experience
  • Benefits eligible, 100% company paid
