The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administering payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely compensation for employees and managing employee benefit programs. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a customer service mindset to assist employees with payroll and benefits-related inquiries. Blackline currently provides payroll services across five Canadian provinces and over twenty states across the United States in the scope of this role. Additional support may be provided to other regions including the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Australia.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced payroll professional with a minimum of 3+ years experience in full-cycle payroll and benefits administration
- FPC and PCP/CPM certification or commitment to pursue in the first year of employment
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong time management skills to maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in tasks.
- Proficient in Planning projects, assessing risks and opportunities, creating, communication with stakeholders, troubleshooting problems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, strong Excel skills are considered an asset
- Experience with employee stock option plans is an asset
- Ceridian Dayforce or UKG experience is considered an asset
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll and benefits changes, enrolments and offboarding for regular and off-cycle payrolls for multiple pay groups in Canada and the United States
- Support the monthly remittance for employee contributions to the Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP) using various systems and resources
- Support benefits enrolments through Sunlife (Canada) and Employee Navigator (United States)
- Support compliance for United States employer withholding requirements, including initiating state and local accounts as new states are added
- Assist with reconciliation of 50+ federal, state and local tax accounts, existing within American and Canadian business entities
- Assist in completing year-end processes and reporting requirements including tax forms (T4, T4 summary and T2200)
- Provide Information and answer colleague questions about payroll, benefits and ESOP replated matters
- Assist other People Services team members with during high volume periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
