Description:
We are recruiting for a Payroll Officer to join our well established team. You will be responsible for day to day delivery of multiple aspects of payroll activity across the organisation. The role will involve working with both People and Culture and our payroll provider to ensure the smooth delivery of payroll data administration and supporting with the delivery of strategic payroll responsibilities, working closely with the People and Culture Support Centre, Business Partners, Finance, Pensions/Reward/Legal/Tax Team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for ensuring payroll is compliant with legislation, regulations, policy, HMRC and business requirements and submitting any reports in accordance with legislation
- Accurate and thorough data entry and reconciliation of payroll data
- Working closely with Internal Audit function during annual payroll audit process and supporting the external audit process
- Respond to queries from employees, HMRC and the Business on payroll matters
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Proven track record of payroll, with extensive understanding of taxation and statutory law in relation to payroll
- Knowledge of different payroll systems and processes
- Ability to solve complex problems/issues; focus on root cause, not just symptoms; makes recommendations
- Confident communicator, remains calm when challenged
- Continuously improves; identifies and acts on opportunities to add value to customers
- Understanding of employee benefits in relation to payroll and taxation
- Build relationships with the ability to establish credibility with suppliers and key customers
- Proven analytical skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Desirable
Previous working knowledge of ITrent Payroll SystemPrevious experience of P11d process
QUALIFICATIONS
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (including Maths and English)
Qualification / Membership of Institute of Payroll Professionals
