Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Payroll Officer to join our supportive, long standing Group Training Organisation (GTO) team based in Bokarina. Our team provides aspiring apprentices and trainees employment opportunities where they can earn and learn, and that is where you come in!
As part of the payroll team, this role will contribute to the efficient end to end processing of the apprentice and trainee payroll. In addition, you will also support the payroll team in responding to enquires and keeping our system and processes running smoothly.
A key aspect of this this role will be accurate and timely data input and assisting with the checking, quality control and maintenance of records to ensure service quality and data integrity.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with the accurate preparation and processing of tri-weekly pay runs as well as back pay, tax adjustments and off cycle payments
  • Ability to interpret and understand compliance for various awards, as well as Fair Work legislation
  • Completion of payroll activities related to the onboarding and offboarding of employees
  • Assisting the Team Leader with costings
  • Reconcile all backend payroll processing, including superannuation, taxation and deductions as required to meet deadlines and compliance.
  • Processing apprentice and trainee wage subsidy and incentive claims
  • Providing payroll support to apprentices and trainees, host employers, and other stakeholders

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Experience with end-to-end payroll processing and high-volume invoicing
  • Effective communication skills: you enjoy the customer service aspect to payroll
  • High attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your daily tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to ensure clear and concise information and advice is provided
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and decision-making skills to successfully identify problems, develop solutions, and implement these using a logical and systematic approach
  • IT skills, strong with Excel, and experience with payroll systems
