We are Europe’s research laboratory for the life sciences – an intergovernmental organisation performing scientific research in disciplines including molecular biology, physics, chemistry and computer science. We are an international, innovative and interdisciplinary laboratory with more than 1900 employees from many nations, operating across six sites, in Heidelberg (HQ), Barcelona, Hinxton near Cambridge, Hamburg, Grenoble and Rome.
We are looking for a payroll specialist to join us at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany.
In this role, you will be part of the EMBL Finance Team, working closely with the HR department as well as the ERP team. This role is a support / back up position to the Payroll Manager in the course of a changeover of the ERP system.
Your role
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant education to university level and/or demonstrated equivalent qualification
- Comprehensive proven knowledge of SAP payroll module, in particular for Germany
- Demonstrated payroll management experience
- Ability to understand and apply internal rules and regulations, plus external national guidelines into compliant pay
- Demonstrated organisational ability and success in meeting deadlines and multi-tasking
- Ability to create, review and supply policies
- Problem solving, numerical and analytical
- Good interpersonal skills incl. strong client oriented attitude
- Excellent written and spoken English and German communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly and in a multi-national environment
You might also have
- Experience with the French and British SAP payroll versions is a major advantage
- Previous experience in a similiar environment is desirable
- Knowledge of French is an advantage
