Come and be a part of the City of Edmonton’s Employee Service Centre (ESC) dynamic team! As a Payroll Representative, you’ll be responsible for efficient payroll functions that support over 14,000 city employees throughout 8 different departments.

Working with a team of professionals, you will provide efficient solutions and services to the entire organization in a manner that focuses on accuracy, timeliness and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment, your day could include the following:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and audit end-to-end payroll for union and non-union employees
  • Provide interpretation regarding collective agreements, administrative policies and legislative changes
  • Provide information and payments in accordance with collective agreements, third party processes and applicable legislation as they relate to time-entry, allowance and premiums, WCB and ROE processing, leave plans and benefit entitlements
  • Research, problem solve and respond to individual employee pay and benefit enquiries received in a continuous phone queue system, email, fax or chat
  • Human Resources Information System (HRIS) projects and testing, as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Minimum 3 years related progressively responsible experience in end-to-end union payroll administration in a large corporate environment
  • Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate (PCP) from the National Payroll Institute. (Applicants working towards this certificate may be considered)

  • Ability to make decisions within established policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, & Excel and Google: Docs, Sheets & Gmail
