Description:

SUMMARY

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing payroll processes and supporting employee benefits administration. This role ensures accurate maintenance of payroll and benefits records, compliance with regulations, and effective communication with employees and management. The Payroll Specialist collaborates with the Controller,
Director of Human Resources, and other team members to resolve discrepancies, refine processes, and provide administrative support for HR initiatives. Employees can perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll, benefits, and HR information.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and interpret payroll and benefits data.

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed to support organizational growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Update employee records with changes in exemptions, deductions, compensation, job titles, department transfers, and benefits enrollment.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing earnings, taxes, wages, deductions, and benefits.
  • Calculate and prepare payroll liabilities, garnishments, and other deductions.
  • Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations while maintaining accurate records.
  • Administer garnishments, employment verifications, and oversee accurate labor recording.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure benefits compliance.
  • Assist the Director of HR with the preparation of benefits communications, onboarding processes, and compliance reporting.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with employees, management, and external vendors.
  • Utilize advanced features of Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, and 10-key for accurate and efficient data entry.
  • Address and resolve payroll and benefits discrepancies in partnership with the Controller, Director of Human Resources, and Operations team.
