Description:
We are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist with expertise in union payroll, particularly within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of union reporting, tax filings, and retirement account administration, with a strong attention to detail and compliance with payroll regulations.
Responsibilities:
Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
Manage union reporting, including dues, fringe benefits, and certified payroll reports.
Handle payroll tax filings on a weekly basis, ensuring accurate deductions and timely submissions.
Prepare quarterly tax reports and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Administer retirement accounts, including enrollment, reporting, payments, and processing loans.
Manage wage garnishments such as child support, levies, and other court-ordered deductions.
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure they are up to date for audits and compliance.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or a similar role in the construction/contractor industry.
Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office Suites, especially Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with Sage 100 and other payroll software.
Knowledge of payroll taxes and tax reporting.
Familiarity with union payroll and handling union dues.
Understanding of payroll garnishments.
Knowledge of retirement and retirement benefits is essential.
Experience in managing fringe benefits.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
