Description:

We are on the search for a Payroll Specialist to join our client’s team located in the New Brunswick, New Jersey area. The primary function of this role is to manage and ensure the accuracy of payroll processes across multiple entities and states. The position involves maintaining and enhancing our payroll procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for multiple entities and states
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies and irregularities in payroll
  • Develop, maintain, and improve payroll procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage employee leave balances, benefit payroll deductions, 3rd party sick pay, and garnishments
  • Produce and distribute payroll reports as required, such as taxes, payroll registers, GL, overtime, leave balances, retirement contribution reports, etc.
  • Handle state withholding registration and maintenance
  • Review, distribute as needed, and ensure accuracy of quarterly payroll tax reports
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal payroll regulations and respond to questions and special requests from regulatory agencies
  • Keep informed about current and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on necessary actions
  • Monitor and manage time off requests and balances and ensure accurate and easy transmission of timesheets for payroll.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Possession of strong knowledge and experience in payroll processing and wages calculation.
  • Proficiency in using Paylocity for payroll management tasks.
  • Understanding of Hour Law and its implications in payroll processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
