Job Description
As a Payroll Specialist at Wolters Kluwer, you report to the Human Resources team while working closely with the Finance team and other internal stakeholders to ensure that all payroll-related processes and procedures are followed accurately and on time.
To be successful as a payroll specialist, you should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards, with a high degree of people skills and numerical aptitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll in compliance with legal requirements and WK policies for Austria, Switzerland and Hungary
  • Ensure the accurate processing of monthly payroll, ensuring effective and timely processing of all new hires, changes and departure related payments, and prorated calculations as may be required.
  • Calculation and preparation of payroll taxes, benefits and monthly remittances, including corporate pension contributions and third-party payments.
  • Preparation of payroll journal entries from payroll system
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll and benefits
  • Reconciliation of year-end tax slips and authorities reporting.
  • Internal audit of changes inclusive of pay amounts, banking, tax and third party interface files.
  • Support external audit by providing payroll documentation as requested
  • Maintain and update documentation regarding payroll processes and controls
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives pertaining to payroll processes and controls
  • Partner with stakeholders on resolving payroll-related issues
  • Key contact with authorities and ADP for processing support and employee inquiries
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills and Competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in processing payroll
  • Post-secondary education in business administration or equivalent
  • Payroll Practitioner certification (would be a +)
  • Knowledge of ADP payroll platform an asset
  • Subject matter expert on payroll rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills
