ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking for a Payroll Supervisor to join our team of skilled finance professionals. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing payroll tasks to ensure effective delivery of payroll services and employee information in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. Duties include preparing reconciliations, creating and balancing payroll journal reports, analyzing and scrutinizing payroll anomalies, and ensuring the hospital is compliant with all mandated payroll requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision and leadership to payroll, including reviewing payroll processes against best practices and enhances processes with a focus on continuous improvement and payroll effectiveness.
  • Ensures adherence to established payroll related policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Works cooperatively with all stakeholders to provide seamless payroll services.
  • Reviews government reporting and year end payroll adjustments/reconciliations.
  • Prepares and submits in a timely manner various reports and annual reconciliation reports to internal clients and various ministries and agencies.
  • Stays abreast of legislative changes and compliance requirements.
  • Reviews payroll journal entries to ensure costs are correctly recorded in the general ledger.
  • Reviews and authorizes manual cheque requisitions.
  • Assists with internal, external, and regulatory audits as required.
  • Assists employees with payroll requests and questions in a timely manner.
  • Critically reviews and analyzes current payroll, benefit and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best practice operations and superior internal controls.
  • Conducts internal audits on processes and procedures within the department to ensure the quality and integrity of internal controls.
  • Ensures ongoing confidentiality is maintained while working with highly sensitive and confidential financial information.
