DESCRIPTION

Summary: The Refugee Resettlement Department at Catholic Charities Community Services provides assistance to newly arrived families from diverse backgrounds who are resettling in New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley through case management, employment-based, and educational services. The Preferred Communities (PC) Case Management Supervisor will support the PC Programs Manager and facilitate the provision of comprehensive social services in multiple PC programs. The PC Case Management Supervisor will supervise case managers and review cases for best practices and contract compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee client eligibility for enrollment assessments and provide guidance for staff.
  • Review, edit, and provide feedback on reports and assessments, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Coordinate closely with PC staff to ensure feedback has been integrated into reports and provide ongoing training and support to ensure reports are completed consistently and correctly.
  • Review case notes for quality, completeness, timeliness, and accuracy, and provide individual and group case note feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • Submit reports on time and liaise with USCCB on delayed reports and extension requests, if needed.
  • Complete case file reviews, in collaboration with the PC-Programs Manager and the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Manager, to ensure that staff maintain copies of documents and reports in each file in compliance with ORR and USCCB guidelines.
  • Provide intensive case supervision for the team, including consultation for complicated cases, crisis response and intervention, and additional programmatic support as needed.
  • Support PC-Programs Manager to develop internal program policy and procedures guidance, such as guides for working in the field, creating case files, and utilizing tools to meet program requirements.
  • Work as part of a team to provide comprehensive trauma-informed, strength-based services to clients through coordination of cases and effective communication between team members and departments.
  • Develop resources for the PC team, including building relationships with social service providers and community-based organizations to increase referral network for clients.
  • Responsible for performance management of supervisees. Assist the PC-Programs Manager and RR department leadership to interview and recruit staff and program volunteers/interns. Make recommendations for hiring and performance reviews.
  • On occasion, carry a small caseload as needed to support resettlement staff and for training purposes.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor and participate in weekly supervision.
  • Participate in program meetings, staff development activities, case conferences and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or experience required:

  • MSW degree or an equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field or, bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus approximately 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledgeable about local social services and experience working with immigrant populations.
  • Fluent in English and a language common to refugee communities.

SKILLS, LICENSES, AND/OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent organizational skills, communication (oral & written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and high-volume communication in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, be responsive, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.). Ability to navigate multiple online database systems.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment, and serve as an advocate for refugee populations.

  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area at least 60% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 40% of the time
