The Palatine Children’s Chorus is for children ages 4-18 who love to sing! Our singers from throughout the northwest suburbs enjoy a variety of musical experiences in the Sing With Me (ages 4-5), Do Re Mi (ages 6-7), Treble (ages 8+), Intermezzo, Concert and Honors Choirs. The Chorus safely nurtures children’s voices, introduces all age groups to a variety of music and offers each level appropriate, safe vocal instruction and music education. Our traveling choirs have performed all around the United States and overseas at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall, the renowned Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Montreal, Quebec, Wales, Austria, Venice, Spain and more. They have also performed for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and Joffrey Ballet.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Accompanist’s primary role is to provide piano accompaniment for the Palatine Children’s Chorus (PCC) Do Re Mi and Treble choirs. During July, the Accompanist will also assist at PCC’s summer camp, “Singin’ in the Sun,” which meets July 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and July 18 from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. for the concert. Applicants must enjoy working with elementary age children and be available on Wednesday evenings during the school year with occasional extra days for additional rehearsals. The time commitment is approximately four (4) hours per week on Wednesday evenings (with paid additional practice hours at home), with more hours the week before concerts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Strong background in piano accompaniment with knowledge of historical practices required
• Enjoy working with young singers
• Energetic and positive attitude
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Artistic Director and administrative staff
