At UPMC Children’s Harrisburg, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients struggling with weight management and eating disorders. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to support the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of our patients.
Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pediatric Social Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children and adolescents facing weight management challenges and eating disorders. This role involves providing individual and family counseling, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care, specifically for the underserved population.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent state licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with pediatric patients, preferably in weight management and eating disorders.
  • Strong understanding of the psychological and social aspects of eating disorders and obesity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to understand the social, emotional, and psychological needs of pediatric patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling to support patients and their families.
  • Educate patients and families about weight management, healthy eating habits, and coping strategies.
  • Coordinate with dietitians, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Advocate for patients’ needs within the healthcare system and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
