Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Research Assistant Psychologist for a new Welcome funded study, “SloMo2”. SloMo is a digitally supported, cognitive-behavioural therapy for psychosis that improves fear of harm from others (or paranoia). You can learn more about SloMo therapy on our website ( www.slowmotherapy.co.uk ) and our X account (@Slowmotherapy)
The SloMo2 study will investigate if SloMo therapy can be delivered in real world settings, by conducting a clinical investigation of its implementation, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness in three NHS Trusts. Understanding participants experience of SlowMo is central to the work.
You will be based in the R&D department at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT), Hove. The work will be undertaken across participating teams predominantly within SPFT.
We are deeply committed to embedding good equality and diversity practice into all of our activities so that the university is an inclusive, welcoming and inspiring place to work and study, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.
To liaise with NHS staff to promote SloMo
To support identification and recruitment of potential participants
To support informed consent of participants
To extract, manage and report research data to a high standard
To conduct person-centred, co-produced qualitative interviews
To deliver internal and external presentations on the study
To effectively use supervision and contribute to team meetings
To promote and support Patient and Public Involvement and public engagement with the research
To carry out other duties as agreed with the research team
Our Research and Development (R&D) department comprises a large and vibrant multidisciplinary team focussed on clinical research design, delivery and dissemination. We lead and host a broad range of studies within our core research themes and supported by our 8 research clinics.
You will join a friendly study team and will be line managed by the Therapy Lead Dr Sarah Mansfield and supported by the Research Assistant Psychologist. There will also be opportunities to meet with the peer researchers at the NHS sites, and mentorship from the Lived Experience Lead for the study, Lucy Walsh.
The post will be linked to the Sussex Psychosis Research interest Group theme and the Sussex Psychosis (paranoia) Experiences and Recovery (SuPER) clinic, and to the Department of Psychology at the University of Sussex.
We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we’ll do our best to make it happen.
You will be responsible for supporting the recruitment, data collection and analysis of interviews with participants about their experience of receiving SloMo therapy at SPFT.
