Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve
months)
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset
College Diploma in Social Services is an asset
Lived experience with a mental health challenge or illness (either personally or in relation to a family member or loved
one) accompanied by the experience of finding a path of recovery is required
Ability to apply the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation; living, learning, working and socializing required
Familiar with basic psychiatric terms required
Ability to work independently and in a team setting required
Relate to both consumer/survivors from a peer perspective and as a member of the health care team required
Demonstrate respect for the consumer rights and personal preferences in treatments
Mentoring within the Recovery process including role modelling required
Demonstrated enhanced advocacy skills and a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person living
with serious mental illness required
Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
Valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and current Ministry of Transportation Driver’s Abstract required
Basic computer knowledge required
Good attendance and work record is required
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and
visitors
Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
