QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Lacated, pumped or breastfed for at least 6 months

Preferred:

  • Bilingual

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shift working 8:30am to 4:30pm; some evenings until 6:30pm
  • Monday-Friday
  • May require travel to sites
  • FT

Responsibilities:

  • Provides age appropriate equipment is used for performing height and weight measurements for women and infants
  • Familiar with healthy weight guides and growth charts for breastfeeding infants
  • Maintains patient documents and reports as required
  • Obtain and document an appropriate history of the breastfeeding mother and child-as part of WIC system
  • Analyze assessment information to identify issues and/or problems
  • Reviews WIC assessments and medical information
  • Implement the plan of care appropriate to the situation and acceptable to the mother
  • Provide lactation education according to NJWIC Guidelines: Benefits, barriers, getting a good start with breastfeeding and help mothers prevent and handle common breastfeeding concerns
  • Documents breastfeeding plan
  • Make referrals according to established protocols to the CPA, Lactation Consultant, the mothers physician, a public health program in the community, or a social service agency
  • Provide telephone contacts to pregnant and breastfeeding women based on delivery dates and follow-up appointments
  • Provides breastfeeding aids
  • Participates in Breastfeeding Awareness/Outreach events
  • Provides education in community organization
