QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Lacated, pumped or breastfed for at least 6 months
Preferred:
- Bilingual
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:
- Shift working 8:30am to 4:30pm; some evenings until 6:30pm
- Monday-Friday
- May require travel to sites
- FT
Responsibilities:
- Provides age appropriate equipment is used for performing height and weight measurements for women and infants
- Familiar with healthy weight guides and growth charts for breastfeeding infants
- Maintains patient documents and reports as required
- Obtain and document an appropriate history of the breastfeeding mother and child-as part of WIC system
- Analyze assessment information to identify issues and/or problems
- Reviews WIC assessments and medical information
- Implement the plan of care appropriate to the situation and acceptable to the mother
- Provide lactation education according to NJWIC Guidelines: Benefits, barriers, getting a good start with breastfeeding and help mothers prevent and handle common breastfeeding concerns
- Documents breastfeeding plan
- Make referrals according to established protocols to the CPA, Lactation Consultant, the mothers physician, a public health program in the community, or a social service agency
- Provide telephone contacts to pregnant and breastfeeding women based on delivery dates and follow-up appointments
- Provides breastfeeding aids
- Participates in Breastfeeding Awareness/Outreach events
- Provides education in community organization
