An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mercer’s pension consulting team.
Mercer is a global leader in consultancy and provides actuarial, investment, risk, and strategic advice to a wide range of clients across multiple industries.

This role involves providing strategic consulting advice to trustees and employers in relation to their pension plans and overall benefit strategy. There is also an opportunity to provide risk management advice & support to trustees as part of our Pension Risk Management Key Function Holder consulting. The role offers a wide variety of exposure and career opportunities, including:

  • Managing a portfolio of client relationships and pension risk manager appointments;
  • Developing close relationships with trustee groups and corporate clients;
  • Working within a team to provide pro-active strategic advice on a wide range of pension and benefit related issues;
  • Helping to develop Mercer’s overall service delivery in key growth areas including pension risk management services;
  • Developing and strengthening the individual’s consultancy skills and pensions industry & multinational client knowledge as part of an engaging and market leading team
  • A training plan to support upskilling to a pension risk management role can be supported

Responsibilities:

The role can be tailored to an individual’s strengths and will facilitate the development of skills and experience over time, with a view to covering the following areas:

  • Provide strategic advice to a diverse range of trustees and employers.
  • Oversee the day to day management and development of important client relationships.
  • Develop a pension risk management framework for pension schemes and provide relevant advice to a diverse range of trustee groups.
  • Contribute to the development of the area of pension risk management (as set out under IORP II) as part of a panel of subject matter experts.
  • Manage the delivery of a range of projects & deliverables to deadlines and budgets with support from junior colleagues.
  • Take a lead role at trustee meetings
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Mercer’s best ideas and solutions in order to provide valuable advice and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Liaise with colleagues across teams and business lines to achieve successful outcomes for clients.
  • Be responsible for the training and development of junior colleagues.
  • Deliver results against own personal and business targets
