CONTEXT

Working in partnership with the NSW Government, the Parklife Metro consortium is working on an exciting new metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.
Comprising, Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens and Webuild, the private sector partners are looking to build their metro rail expertise to deliver this city-shaping project, which will be delivered under a Public Private Partnership model and will provide a major economic stimulus for western Sydney.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

Quality, Environmental and Safety:

  • Maintains and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action
  • Promotes the principles of fairness and equity in line with the company’s stated core values

Planning and Operations:

  • Managing and maintaining HR systems and processes in line with company and legislative requirements including:
  • Preparing relevant documentation
  • Maintaining complete and accurate personnel records
  • Coordinating the performance review process including the timing of the process and collation of related documents
  • Interpreting National Company HR policies for local use and application

Industrial Relations:

  • Assist the P&C Director with any IR issues including but not limited to EA Negotiations and FWC Matters

Reporting:

  • Develop and manage own work scheduled to ensure tasks are completed to quality and within required timeframes
  • Assisting with recruitment processes
  • Providing HR advice and expertise for project including:

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge regarding best practice HR practices and related regulations
Researching and making recommendations regarding HR policies and procedures
Providing project advice and support to HR and managers in the field

Liaising with relevant managers regarding any industrial relations matters/issues

  • Building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to promote quality HR outcomes for the project including:

Providing high level support to managers to ensure their ability to support their staff
Actively liaising with all office and site personnel

Actively promoting the importance of quality HR practices and processes

  • Ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the HR Department including coordinate all HR initiates to accurately service the business
  • Counsel and assist employees as necessary on problems affecting work performance or special situations
  • Manage performance management cases proving advice and guidance to managers
  • Provide advice to employees and management on conditions of employment, employment legislation, as required
  • Assist manager as required on matters related to IR
  • Manage the Competency process for Engineering staff to meet AEO requirements.
  • Assist with the management and implementation of the Workforce Participation and Sustainability Strategy
  • Stays informed and demonstrated an awareness of industry/ workplace IR issues
  • Any ad hoc duties as required and directed by the HR Manager

Communication:

  • Takes an innovative approach to resolve issues without impacting on the Company’s objectives
  • Communicates the HR vision and RATPDev values to personnel at all levels on the project

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary level or equivalent industry experience in Human Resources

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 5 years in operational experience in the application of HR principles in the construction/ industry
  • Sound understanding of employment and industrial relations practices and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others
  • Presented problem solving / analytical skills
  • Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied
  • Competent in planning and organising work schedules
  • Working knowledge of best practice, legislative obligations, and implementation of same
  • Self-confident and able to persuade, convince or impress others to gain their commitment and co-operation to a course of action
  • Clear communication – verbal and written
  • High attention to detail
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Package
