We are seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable and energetic Human Resources professional to join our team in our Dartmouth headquarters to continue to enhance our employee experience and culture. With a dual reporting to the COO and the Director of People and Culture, you will be an integral team member as we continue to grow our companies. This exciting new role will give you the opportunity start at either 32 or 40 hours per week, with some ability to contribute in both companies.
As our People and Culture Coordinator, you will contribute to our people and culture initiatives, creating a great employee experience and brand. If you love working with people, are active in your community and want to grow your career in Human Resources, this role could be for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Lakeview talent recruitment process including drafting job descriptions, posting it on multiple websites, doing proactive searching/ outreach/ leveraging social media, screening candidates, phone screening candidates, interviewing, preparing job offers
  • Updating database to build a talent pipeline
  • Preparing onboarding schedule and welcome package/uniforms and handling HR components (policy review, benefits, culture etc), booking meetings with key stakeholders
  • Maintaining employee files and database
  • Researching best practices and suggesting opportunities for continued improvement
  • Supporting Diversity and Inclusion initiatives
  • Participating in continuous learning opportunities and staying current with Human Rights and Employment Legislation, ensuring compliance
  • Developing our culture committee, participating in event planning and other initiatives
  • Leveraging social media and local events to enhance our employee brand, working with Marketing on relevant branding/campaigns
  • Providing payroll and benefits support - entering/maintaining new hire/banking info and ensuring enrolled in benefits and RRSP plan when
  • Building relationships with NSCC/NBCC and other schools, ISANS
  • Assisting with Cabco recruitment
  • Performing other related duties as required

Your background:

  • Post-secondary education in Business with an HR major, or post-grad HR certificate
  • 3+ years’ experience in the Human Resources field, preferably in the construction or electrical industry
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • You have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation
  • You are technologically savvy with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Payworks/Get Hired, Procore and/or Sage would be an asset
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Detail-oriented
