TE ĀHEINGA | THE OPPORTUNITY

At Whakaata Māori, we’re on a mission to share our stories, language and culture with the world. We’re not just creating media; we’re weaving the vibrant fabric of te ao Māori into everything we do.
We’re looking for an experienced HR Manager who is ready to make a real impact. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, have resilience and adaptability, and—above all—are passionate about supporting our kaihoe (staff) to reach their full potential, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape Our People and Capability Strategy: Craft and drive a robust People and Capability (P&C) strategy that fosters a high-performance culture, empowering every team at Whakaata Māori to excel.
  • Empower Our Leaders: Build strong relationships with leadership teams, providing coaching and expert, up-to-date P&C guidance to develop capable, confident leaders.
  • Lead HR Excellence: Oversee and mentor the HR Business Partners, ensuring they deliver top-tier technical and specialist P&C support, enabling Whakaata Māori to not only meet but exceed legislative standards.
  • Champion Organisational Development: Design and implement an organisation-wide learning and development strategy in partnership with senior leaders. Deliver targeted programmes that address both technical and te reo Māori language development needs, driving growth at all levels.
  • Industrial Relations Expertise: Act as a trusted Industrial Relations expert, stay ahead of NZ employment law and maintaining strong relationships with kaihoe and union members. Lead Employment Relations resolutions in alignment with Whakaata Māori values and tikanga
