We are seeking a People & Culture Delivery Partner to join our dynamic team at Downer Social Infrastructure & Citizen Services, People & Culture team. This pivotal role is designed to foster a productive, engaged, and safe workforce, while cultivating a culture of personal accountability and empowerment. As a key enabler of business success, you will help shape business unit structures that align with organizational goals.
As the first point of contact for line managers, you will provide expert HR guidance and support, coaching leaders on best practices, policies, and processes. You’ll play an integral part in facilitating capability and learning & development initiatives, supporting collective bargaining and union engagement, and providing essential transactional HR support. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with key stakeholders to scope and deliver strategic and tactical people initiatives that drive business performance.
The People & Culture Delivery Partner will work closely with the HR community, operational leaders, and functional specialists to ensure Downer continues to be recognized as an “Employer of Choice” within the industries we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide generalist HR advice to line managers, offering coaching and guidance on HR practices and processes.
  • Facilitate learning and development initiatives to build organizational capability.
  • Support collective bargaining and union engagement, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Deliver transactional HR support, including policy implementation and people management processes.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to design and implement strategic and tactical people initiatives.
  • Partner with the broader HR community and functional specialists to maintain Downer’s strong reputation as an employer of choice.

NGA PŪKENGA MOTUHAKE | IMPORTANT SKILLS

  • Tertiary qualification in HR or related field preferred, or significant practical HR experience.
  • Proven experience in an HR business partner or generalist role and experience in coaching and mentoring leaders on HR issues and organizational change.
  • Ability to navigate complex environments, manage ambiguity, and work cross-functionally.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, capable of influencing and challenging decision-making.
  • Self-managed, detail-oriented, and focused on delivering customer-centric, value-driven solutions.
