Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP for People & Culture, this role is a business partner to the broader leadership team and champion in advancing HR programs that elevate engagement, enhance organizational performance, and foster employee growth. Overseeing key areas such as talent acquisition, employee relations, total rewards, onboarding, DEI, and volunteer management, this role ensures HR programs embody the YMCA-YWCA’s community-focused vision and inspire a thriving workplace.
- Talent Acquisition: Lead transformative recruitment strategies, partnering with leadership to attract, hire, and retain top talent who embody the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg’s vision and values, creating moments that matter for both candidates and the organization.
- Culture Development: Drive initiatives that bring the YMCA-YWCA’s values to life, cultivating a vibrant, inclusive workplace culture that fosters collaboration, engagement, and meaningful community impact.
- Organizational Development: Design and implement programs that address skills gaps, nurture succession planning, and enhance workforce capability, positioning the organization for sustained success.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted partner to leaders and employees, providing expert guidance on workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution to foster fairness, compliance, and strong relationships.
- Compensation & Benefits: Manage compensation, benefits, and recognition strategies, ensuring compliance with payroll and benefits regulations, to attract, retain, and engage top talent while aligning with organizational goals and fostering a culture of equity and value.
- Change Management: Lead change initiatives by developing people-centric strategies that align systems and processes, ensuring seamless transitions and empowering employees to thrive through moments of transformation.
- HR Operations: Optimize HR systems, records, and workflows to maintain compliance, streamline operations, and support organizational effectiveness, creating consistent and impactful employee experiences.
- HR Compliance: Proactively ensure adherence to employment laws, regulations, and policies by implementing best practices, monitoring changes, and equipping leadership with guidance to mitigate risk and maintain alignment with the YMCA-YWCA’s mission.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS/PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION
- Post Secondary Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Must hold at least one designation from CPHR, CPM, CTMP, or RPR. Working towards a designation would be considered.
- Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry
- Manitoba Class 5F License and access to vehicle
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources field.
- Experience administering HRIS, knowledge in UKG will be considered strong asset.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of employment standards, labor laws, and HR best practices in Manitoba and Ontario, with the ability to ensure compliance and provide jurisdiction-specific guidance.
- Advanced proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and operational reporting, including dashboard creation and process monitoring, to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.
- Exceptional self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal abilities to foster trust, resolve conflicts, and build strong, positive relationships across diverse teams.
- Outstanding time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills to structure and analyze complex challenges, deliver actionable insights, and ensure efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
