Employment Type: 15 months Temporary Full Time
Annual Salary Range: Exempt Band 3, MIN $84,400.00 - MED $99,200.00 - MAX $114,000.00
Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In addition, our pay philosophy is to align with the median of the comparable market and to be considerate of internal equity comparisons.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING…

As the People and Culture Systems Specialist, you will play an integral part of the People & Culture Team as you manage our HRIS and Payroll system, along with other P&C systems and technical tools from a functional perspective.
As the first point of contact for technical issues and troubleshooting, you get excited by the “puzzle” of solving complex and time-sensitive system issues. Your natural curiosity and continuous improvement mindset will be assets as you look to find innovative solutions to problems. Your analytical skills will be put to regular use when analyzing business requirements and when designing, testing and implementing solutions such as modifications to new and existing functionality within our HRIS.

This work could include maintaining or enhancing the front-end functionality and configuration of:

  • leave policies
  • benefit and pension plans
  • payroll coding and processes
  • organizational structures
  • salary tables
  • time and attendance
  • employee self-service
  • standard and ad-hoc reporting
  • system variables, functional scripts and various other code tables

Your communication skills will allow you to create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, data entry procedures and cross-functional processes. As a subject matter expert, you will also provide training to ensure proper use of these systems and tools.

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role:

  • Experience supporting or administrating HR and/or Payroll systems, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) would be an asset
  • Strong technical skills or aptitude, including knowledge of relational database systems, data management principles, data analysis and manipulation (e.g., Excel formulas and pivot tables), and reporting tools.
  • Solid communication skills with ability to adapt style and content to various audiences using business or technical language as appropriate.
  • Systems or business analysis, project experience and knowledge of SQL would be considered strong asset
