This role falls under the ZoomerMedia Limited, the parent company of Daily Hive, blogTO, Curiocity, The Peak and several other brands. You will work on the corporate side of the Company that stems across all digital brands, TV, radio and other legacy media and will not be restricted or limited to one brand or division.

WHO YOU ARE

As the People Operations Manager at ZoomerMedia Limited, you’ll be responsible for managing the day to day operations within the People Operations team with a specific focus on the Toronto office. We’re looking for someone who is passionate, eager and motivated by modern HR practices, with an interest in being part of a company that focuses on creating a positive employee experience and cultivating a strong culture across various divisions, demographics and locations. To be successful, you’re someone who is not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty to get the job done, is able to work in a fast paced environment, meet deadlines, problem solve and still find the time to have fun at work. Working with the Head of People Operations, you’ll be part of building an efficient and effective department by developing streamlined processes, and working with department heads and managers to ensure both the people and business needs are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with internal business units to develop strategy and build buy-in for enhancements to existing HR/People Operations services and programs.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the unionized division, ensuring harmonious relations.
  • Play a key role in the hiring cycle activities including defining and implementing strategies to attract, hire, and retain top talent across the company with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Be a cultural champion in the Toronto office, assisting with organizing team building events and activities and creating opportunities to shape, transform and foster an organizational culture with a passion for excellence and maximizes the employee experience.
  • Partner with employees, managers and leaders to identify, plan, develop and execute strategic People Operations initiatives that support and meet the needs of the business.
  • Provide support for Senior Leadership by answering inquiries and provide follow-ups if necessary.
  • Act as a people partner and resource to managers, providing guidance, support and recommendations to ensure the Company is promoting positive employee-manager relationships and effectively managing performance.
  • Support supervisors and managers in matters of employee discipline and termination, including coaching and guidance to create rewarding employee experiences.
  • Collaborate with the finance teams on administrative related tasks relating to payroll, benefits, onboarding and other operational responsibilities.
  • Play an integral role during the onboarding and offboarding of employees within the organization.
  • Identify opportunities and propose solutions for continuous improvement relating to HR/People Operations initiatives, policies and HR/People Operations effectiveness.
  • Maintain current knowledge and awareness of the Employment Standard Act (ESA), Canada Labour Code (CLC), Labour Relations Code, Human Rights code, human resource best practices, labour relations standards and practices and legislative changes to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across the federal, state, provincial and local jurisdictions where we operate.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize people operations, systems, and platforms to eliminate manual work, drive efficiency, improve processes and find alignment.
  • Develop, analyze, and share data analysis processes and tools, including HR/People Operations metrics and reports.
  • Work with the Head of People Operations to monitor employee engagement and company culture and develop programs or initiatives to increase engagement or promote company culture.
